Years ago, I started the organization trying to sell Cowboy Woks. We actually called them BorderWoks. They were a tracker disc with welded rebar for legs and handles. They were great for large group camp outs and we could turn around food pretty quick while cooking over a campfire. The bad thing was that they were heavy, awkward and not that easy to cool down and pack up.
So we decided to start the Arizona Outdoors Magazine. It started to take off and we were getting in the door talking to people about their business and the outdoors. We went to a printer and printed our first issue and distributed it out all over the state.
The overhead was too much for us to handle though and we had to take a step back and re-evaluate things.
We stayed active as individuals in the outdoor communities and and listened to what people were saying. We found that people wanted to be connected into a community but their preferences were all different.
Many use social media, but rarely the same platform. Many also listen to podcasts or watch videos online. All from various topics in the outdoors from camping, hiking, hunting and more. So we thought to ourselves, why not do all of these things and funnel them into one platform?
Thus, we started the online forum and the Arizona Outdoors Co. and Arizona Outdoor Charities. New platforms for people to get connected to each other, the outdoors and give back.
Arizona Outdoor Charities helps people give in ways that most charities cannot. Along with cash donations, the charity can take non-cash donations such as hunting equipment, ammunition, archery, firearms and the like to receive a fair-market value tax deduction. For example, if someone wants to donate 500 rounds of 9mm ammo, they would receive a tax deduction for what the 500 rounds are worth that they could report on their taxes. The charity would then use the rounds for a program they run to help teach youth firearm safety, or find a similar program already being run and give the rounds to them. They could also use cash to sponsor a scholarship program for kids to an outdoor events or hunts. Whatever the charitable intent of the donor is, we can find a solution to meet those needs.
Sometimes, we don't have the time to read blog posts or post on the outdoor forum. So we have released the Arizona Outdoor Podcast! Here we can discuss news updates relating to the outdoors and episodes can be downloaded and listened to while on the go or doing other tasks. We are working hard to distribute the podcast on all major platforms but they can also be listened to directly from the web or on our YouTube channel. Take a listen, give us feedback! If you would like to be on the show, promote your business, service or product, we want to hear about it!
We also have revived our YouTube Channel and will be posting regular updates to showcase products, businesses, events and more! We would love it if you would subscribe to the channel and let us know if you want to be a part of it. We want to be a part of your outdoor experience.
We hope you like the new experience that we are trying to create and that it fills the gaps you find in trying to enrich your outdoor experience. We value your feedback and want to hear from you. If you have ideas or requests, let us know by contacting us!
